Mental Health in the Workplace Webinar and 988 Day Month Highlights
OAKTON, VA (August 28, 2026) —HopeLink Behavioral Health, a nonprofit that answers the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline for most of Virginia, is hosting a free, one-hour Lunch & Learn webinar on September 15th about Mental Health in the Workplace as part of its 12th annual #CallTextLive Campaign. Throughout September’s Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month, HopeLink’s #CallTextLive Campaign will educate and engage the local community about mental health issues and solutions. As a regional nonprofit with national reach, HopeLink helps individuals who live with behavioral health issues or that are in crisis.
“A highlight of our #CallTextLive campaign is a Lunch & Learn that is open to all members of our community. Stress, burnout, financial pressures, caregiving responsibilities and mental health challenges do not disappear when people arrive at work. Everyone has a role in suicide prevention, and this free webinar about mental health in the workplace helps employers and employees. This month-long campaign also offers ways for people to engage through social media, activities and events,” explained Joseph Getch, CEO, HopeLink Behavioral Health.
During the September 15th Lunch & Learn webinar from 12-1pm, HopeLink’s Crisis Services staff will share tips and resources to manage workplace stress and burnout, and how to support others. Open to the public, the session provides an opportunity to learn practical tools that could help save a life. People interested in participating should register at https://hopelinkbh.org/calltextlive/ and click on the webinar graphic.
Suicide is a leading cause of death, resulting in more than 47,000 deaths in the United States in 2024. In addition, there were an estimated 1.6 million suicide attempts. Removing the stigma around discussing suicide and reaching out for help is crucial to saving lives and creating safer communities.
Throughout September, the public can make a difference by participating in HopeLink’s #CallTextLive campaign. The campaign provides information and activities that contribute to a suicide-safer community by educating the public about improving mental wellness and talking openly about suicide and pain to help reduce the stigma and increase help seeking. It also educates family and friends about what services and supports are available to them.
Other elements include facts and data to increase understanding of suicide; resources about identifying when someone is in crisis; and invitations to HopeLink supported events. Social media is an important part of the campaign and is used to share facts and photos on HopeLink’s Facebook and Instagram pages using the #CallTextLive hashtag. Specifically, September 8 is 988 Day, and the public is encouraged to wear teal or purple to spread awareness for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and share photos with HopeLink on its social media pages. By visiting HopeLink’s website or social pages, people can discover how to participate in the #CallTextLive Campaign.
A call to 988, text to 988, or sending a chat via 988lifeline.org/chat can save a life. If someone in crisis reaches out, HopeLink’s trained crisis workers evaluate their call, help deescalate the crisis when possible, and work collaboratively with local resources to connect individuals to services when appropriate. In addition to operating as a crisis call center, HopeLink provides an array of behavioral health services. To learn more about HopeLink and/or the campaign, visit https://HopeLinkBH.org/.
